I am sorry that you are having issues with the granny charger again, I understand this is far from ideal!

I have talked to our director of engineering in regards to the overheating issue that is happening, and have been advised that we need to check a few things before advising on the best course of action, as this is the second time this has happened and the granny charger has been tested thoroughly and our testing machine has found no fault on the cable after the repairs were carried out, so we need to find out the root cause of the overheating first of all.

Can you please advise what amperage are you setting your granny charger at when charging at night?

You also should not be using your house wiring to charge your car everyday, you need to get a dedicated socket installed. The engineering team believes that the socket you are using might not be EV rated, or its on a ring main which is not ideal especially if used everyday for charging. Fine for a few times, but as the main way to charge a car, a dedicated UK socket needs to be installed. These are important factors that you should look into to get to the root cause.

I have her on this link an example of an EV rated socket, to clarify an EV rated socket has to have the following: complies with BS 1363-2  https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/1661706-1-gang-13a-dp-switched-socket-white

The reason we say this as most houses in the UK are quite old and when the wiring and sockets were installed, most likely EVs weren't even an option in people's minds, in fact even in new builds we see that sometimes the sockets are not EV rated. If you'd like us to check, could you please send us a picture of the socket that you mainly use to charge your EV?

Please let me know what amp the charger is set to and if before the overheating could you see any error message on display at all? Having all this information will help a lot before I can get back to you with next steps.

I hope this makes sense, but as always if not please give me a shout and I will be happy to clarify any doubts.
