You can't extend a cable, as the International Electrotechnical Commission standard is clear on the matter; “A cord extension set or second cable assembly shall not be used in addition to the cable assembly for the connection of the EV to EVSE.”. 2. IEC 62196-2 Type 2 charging cables are specifically designed so that daisy chaining or using them as extension leads is not possible. The connectors are configured with one vehicle-side plug and one charger-side connector, meaning two cables cannot physically be connected together. This design is intentional and forms part of the safety requirements of the standard, ensuring a safe direct connection between the charging point and the vehicle only.
